I have been making mosaics for nearly 20 years and still enjoy the whole process of it, from finding recycled china, to working out a design and fitting all the pieces together. Its like doing a jigsaw and you become so engrossed in it , that often the finished result is completely different to what you expected.
I have been working on mosaics of bouquets of flowers in vases, incorporating words and letters, using some lovely retro and victorian china, and have also done a series of mosaics featuring cats in different poses. I also mosaic terracotta pots for inside and outside use.
Recently I have started to paint again, mainly still life images which I set up using collected china, with cups, saucers, teapots etc . I love to paint in bright bold colours, and use patterns from different materials to create texture. My paintings often reflect my mosaic work.
