Understanding my environment, both domestic and urban, is at the heart of my artistic practice. This is reflected in my mixed media assemblages, my curatorial work and interest in community based art.
My mixed media constructions are inspired by the transience of life. By creating order from everyday deconstructed materials, china, paper, cloth and ephemera, I wish to evoke memories of the past connecting with the present. The making process is deeply rooted in the make do and mend ethos of my childhood, re-cycling the unwanted into something new.
