1st to 10th March  -  Swindon Film Society -Films & Art Exhibition

As well as screening some excellent moving pictures, this year’s Swindon Film Festival will be showcasing some other types of visual art.

Running in parallel with the Film Festival, from 1st to 10th March, there will be an art exhibition on the theme of ‘Artists – Inspired By Film‘ at The Post Modern in Theatre Square – which is also going to be a venue for several of the films being screened in the festival.

The exhibition is being organised by Artsite, who run The Post Modern . They are now inviting local artists to submit their original work for inclusion in the exhibition. There will be a prize of £100 for the work judged to be the best in the show, with two runner-up prizes of £25.

Artsite are delighted to be part of this year’s Swindon Film Festival. Artists and film makers have always been inspired by each other’s practice and this competition is a great opportunity for us to present a new exhibition based on such inspiration. Swindon’s creative community has lots to offer local people, and linking of the two genres of film and visual arts for the duration of the Film Festival is a really exciting project.

Words and Pictures is an open opportunity for artists to submit their response to the lyrics that they have developed an emotional connection to.
