Shoebox Scratch: Too Pretty to Punch

THEATRE / PAY WHAT YOU DECIDE

Too Pretty to Punch is a one-person celebration of trans visibility and self-acceptance; a mix of clown, mime, music, spoken word and video projection focusing on society’s obsession with trans bodies, judging our acceptability on how attractive we are, and the horrifically high rates of trans homicide and suicide around the world.

About the Artist

Edward/Edalia is a trans/non-binary theatre maker, poet, animator and musician that has worked as an actor for over 10 years, mainly touring Shakespeare, physical theatre and children’s theatre but also producing new work. In 2014, they created ‘In the Surface of a Bubble’, a fantastical show about a girl struggling to come to terms with a transgender parent and last year they toured Super Hamlet 64, a one-person remake of Hamlet in the style of a computer game, which will continue to tour throughout 2018.

What is a Scratch Performance?

A Shoebox Scratch gives theatre makers the opportunity to develop and share a new idea. It’s about seeing and supporting the beginnings of new work before its fully developed. Giving audiences a chance to watch, discuss, and be part of the creation of something brilliant.

Tickets for our scratch performances are ‘Pay What You Decide’, which means you don’t have to pay until after you have seen a show. We want to make theatre accessible to everyone, so for ‘Pay What You Decide’ performances we do not charge for entry, but we still need to raise money for these events to keep happening and support future artists. If money’s tight don’t worry, but if not, please think about what you would normally pay for a night at the theatre – every penny you give will be directly invested into the show and the venue.
